Unexpected Photos: Photos You Don't Expect

Dear Alexandra and Chris, on this page you will find a draft of a project that I draw after our meeting.

THE BAD HABIT OF WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS

You have surely noticed that one of the bad habits in the wedding photography industry, especially when operating without a specific method (or following the "traditional" method), is to abandon the couple from the day they sign the contract until the wedding day.

Certainly, this approach frees the photographer from many commitments, but the consequences fall entirely on the couple.

A couple getting married has no experience with weddings, and it rarely happens that they have been photographed before.
Therefore, if from today until the wedding day the photographer disappears and abandons you, it will be like taking a leap into the void for both you and the photographer, and you will have no control over the result.

Don't you also find that absurd?

You have months and months of time to be accompanied and assisted in a world you don't know.
You could use that time to acquire the knowledge, confidence, and awareness that will allow you to express the best version of yourself.
Yet, out there, hundreds of couples continue to do things "as they have always been done": taking a leap into the void.

It's as if photographers have a magic wand that produces authentic and spontaneous photographs!

No...unfortunately, reality is different...

The reality is that we photographers do not have a magic wand, and it would be deeply dishonest to show you some beautiful photo albums promising that yours will be the same.

Don't you think so?

Can I give you an example?

If you like those photos because they are so spontaneous and natural, then you should wonder if the couple was already like that by nature and uninhibited in front of the camera.

Are you like that too?

Because if not, it would be dishonest to promise that you can achieve the same result.

(Or maybe even Marco and Laura weren't sure about being comfortable, but they received concrete help to enhance the result).

Here's another question you could ask yourself when looking at those same photos:

"WHAT DID THE PHOTOGRAPHER DO TO HELP MARCO AND LAURA ACHIEVE THAT RESULT?"

Each of us is different!

Each of us needs tailor-made suggestions for our specific

Why is it necessary to first visit a doctor and undergo an examination for certain medications?
The answer is simple: the specialist understands the desired outcome and then prescribes the best therapy.

Similarly, once the photographer understands the result you want to achieve, they suggest the best approach and then outline the path to reach it.

In a wedding, the photographer doesn't have a magic wand: the outcome depends 100% on the couple, who must choose the right person to help them showcase their true potential and express themselves fully.

(Note: I should also mention that among the poor habits is the fact that, on average, couples are made to wait for months before seeing the results and receiving the photographs... but I believe this is something that, although already common in the industry, you are already aware of.)

The Worst Method to Approach Anything Is to Do It Without a Method

During the video consultation, we have seen how important these three elements are to you:

1: Having authentic and spontaneous photographs
2: Leaving a tangible memory for your guests/focus on families 
3: Not wasting unnecessary time on photographs of little value

Your experience has made you realize how pointless it is to gather dozens of guests for disorganized and unremarkable photographs.
This action takes time, the result is mediocre, and especially if those photographs are delivered months later, the best moment to leave a lasting memory will have been lost.

It is right to consider the guests, but it is equally important to do so with appropriate tools that help the couple express their full potential without wasting time, energy, and effort.

Personally, I believe that photographs are the only tangible memory that remains of the wedding, both in the memory of the couple and in the memory of the guests. However, this should not affect the experience of the day.

When it comes to spontaneity and naturalness, it is important to address this as well.
It's normal to feel embarrassed in front of a camera if you don't have any prior experience with photoshoots – who isn't?

In this case as well, it's important to find a suitable solution that helps you feel at ease on your wedding day, confident in yourselves, ensuring that you've done everything possible to bring out the best in you.

Wasting time gathering friends and family for a group photo is not a solution.

Wasting time explaining to the couple how to pose in front of the camera (despite having months to do so) is not a solution either.

In fact, these are two problems, and it would be wrong to propose "beautiful photographs" that contain these two issues.

During this phase, we will also organize the "photo buffet," a surprise formula to amaze the guests and deliver the photos by setting up a dedicated corner.

During the Wedding Day
